The Jacksonville Farmers Market, a local tradition since 1938, is Florida’s oldest farmer’s market. There, over 200 farmers and vendors offer the widest and freshest selection of fruits and veggies available at a fraction of grocery store prices. The market is also your place to purchase unique, ethnic, and specialty items not easily found elsewhere.
Browsing the shopping area is a delightful experience and a trip back to yesteryear, when most of our food items were grown and purchased locally. My new goal – to buy one fruit or veggie weekly that I rarely or never use and prepare it!
If you go: The Jacksonville Farmers Market is located at 1810 Beaver Street, one mile West of downtown, and is open from predawn to dusk 365 days a year. While you’re there, sample some of that fresh produce at Andy’s Farmer’s Market Grill, open for breakfast, lunch or take-out.
